Jack Eichel needs to step up big time tonight if the Vegas Golden Knights want to stay alive against the Edmonton Oilers.
The Knights are facing elimination in Game 5, and they’ll be counting on their star center to rediscover his scoring touch on home ice.
Eichel’s been surprisingly quiet this series. He’s managed just five assists and hasn’t found the back of the net – a far cry from his regular-season performance where he led the team with 94 points (28 goals, 66 assists).
The drought couldn’t have come at a worse time. Vegas was shut out 3-0 in Game 4, pushing them to the brink of elimination.
But there’s reason for hope. Knights fans haven’t forgotten how Eichel dominated the playoffs last year, leading all scorers during Vegas’s historic run to their first Stanley Cup.
“We need everyone to step up, but Jack’s our guy,” said head coach Bruce Cassidy. “He’s proven he can deliver in big moments.”
The pressure’s definitely on. Edmonton’s looking to close out the series, while Vegas is trying to force a Game 6 and keep their title defense alive.
For Eichel, it’s a chance to add another chapter to his playoff legacy. Last year’s championship run showed what he can do when the stakes are highest.
The puck drops tonight at T-Mobile Arena, where a rowdy home crowd will be hoping their star center can recapture some of that Stanley Cup magic.
