The Nashville Predators have traded Cody Glass to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported the trade, and the Penguins confirmed they got Glass, a 2025 third-round pick, and a 2026 sixth-round pick in exchange for Jordan Frasca. Injuries have held back Glass, who was the No. 6 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft by Vegas Golden Knights.
Glass managed just 22 points in 66 games over two seasons with Vegas. This led to his trade to Nashville in 2021, where he had more chances to shine. He scored 14 goals and had 35 points in the 2022-23 season but was limited by injuries last season to only scoring 13 points in 41 games. With new players like Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault joining Nashville, there wasn’t much room left for him.
New Beginnings:
Now moving to Pittsburgh, Glass will be one of just three forwards under age 26 on the team. However, his role isn’t guaranteed because Pittsburgh also added Kevin Hayes and Blake Lizotte this summer. This crowded lineup might push Glass to play right wing instead of center.
Fans might wonder if this change will finally help him reach his potential.
If he can outshine Jesse Puljujarvi, Rickard Rakell, and Valtteri Puustinen at right wing, he could land a prime spot next to Evgeni Malkin. That could bring back his scoring touch that everyone hopes for.
On the other hand, Frasca heads to Nashville as minor-league depth after scoring well in ECHL but struggling in AHL games so far. Pittsburgh signed him as an undrafted free agent last year on a three-year deal worth $2.8M set to expire after next season.
