3 Wingers Maple Leafs Could Target in Trade Market

The Maple Leafs are on the hunt for a top-tier winger, and they’ve got their eyes on some pretty interesting targets.

It’s all about finding the perfect linemate for Auston Matthews after Mitch Marner’s departure to Vegas left a gaping hole on the right side. While they’ve already snagged Matias Maccelli to play alongside John Tavares and William Nylander, there’s still that crucial spot next to Matthews that needs filling.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports that Toronto’s management isn’t sitting still. They’re actively working the phones, looking for that perfect top-six winger to complement their star center.

Three names have emerged as potential targets, and each brings something different to the table.

First up is Bryan Rust. The Pittsburgh veteran’s situation is particularly interesting – his no-movement clause expires June 30, potentially opening the door for a trade. With the Penguins in selling mode, he could be available, though it won’t come cheap.

Then there’s Jordan Kyrou from St. Louis. He’s an intriguing option who was actually in trade discussions during the season. While his new no-movement clause that kicked in July 1 complicates things, it’s not necessarily a deal-breaker.

Jared McCann rounds out the trio. The Seattle Kraken forward has two years left on his deal and brings some serious scoring punch. He’s got a 10-team no-trade list, so he’ll have some say in where he lands if Seattle decides to move him.

The Leafs’ front office seems determined to make something happen. After all, when you’ve got a talent like Matthews, you need to make sure he’s got the right player on his wing.

Who do you think would be the best fit alongside Matthews?
