Brad Malone has officially retired from hockey.
After hinting in April that this season would be his last with the Bakersfield Condors, Malone decided to call it a career. Drafted by Colorado in 2007, he made his NHL debut in the 2011-12 season. Over nine games with the Avalanche, he managed two assists. For the next seven years, he played sporadically for Colorado, Carolina, and Edmonton.
In total, Malone scored 14 goals and earned 32 points across 217 NHL games. His playoff experience includes eight games split between Colorado in 2014 and Edmonton in 2022.
Career Highlights:
At the University of North Dakota, Malone gained significant experience before moving to the AHL. He played 552 regular-season games and participated in 28 playoff matches there. As captain of the Condors for four years, he hit a career-high of 39 points during the 2021-22 season.
Fans might find it interesting that despite limited playoff success overall, Malone had some victories during the pandemic-altered playoffs of 2020-21 when his team won against Henderson Silver Knights.
Malone’s final stats include four goals and nine points with Colorado over 54 games; nine goals and 21 points with Carolina over 122 games; and one goal with two points for Edmonton over 41 games.
