The Seattle Kraken had trouble scoring last season, finishing near the bottom of the league.
They tried to fix this by signing Chandler Stephenson and Brandon Montour, but it wasn’t enough. Stephenson has only scored more than 20 goals once in his career, and Montour has never hit that mark.
To really boost their offense, they need a player who can consistently score over 20 goals each season. Here are three forwards they might consider trading for:
Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks could be a great addition. He’s got the “wow” factor and has scored over 60 points in both his second and third seasons in the NHL. Unfortunately, he missed most of last season due to a broken ankle . The Ducks are open to offers for him, with teams like Montreal showing interest. Pairing Zegras with offensive defensemen like Vince Dunn or Montour could be exciting.
Patrik Laine from the Columbus Blue Jackets is another option. He’s an elite scorer with three seasons of 30 or more goals under his belt. Last season was rough for him due to a broken clavicle and time spent in the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program for mental health support. But he’s been cleared to play again as of July 26th. Columbus might trade him if they get a good offer without having to keep part of his salary.
Potential Trade Targets:
A trade for Laine would be tricky but worth it if Seattle can pull it off. Fans might think this change could help Laine thrive away from a rebuilding team like Columbus.
Nick Robertson from the Toronto Maple Leafs is young but promising. At just 22 years old, he had his best year yet last season with 14 goals and 27 points in 56 games. He wants out of Toronto, according to NHL insider Chris Johnston.
So what do you think? Should Seattle go after one of these players?
