Washington, D.C. is a place full of debates and different opinions.
The city is known for creating laws, having discussions, and making deals. Because of this, many people move there for work even though they are from other places originally.
When Nate Silver shared his opinion that Washington’s sports teams are “weird,” locals quickly jumped in to protect their teams . They didn’t like someone calling their beloved teams strange. Fans might think it’s just another outsider not understanding their city’s spirit.
Sports in the Capital:
In a city where politics reigns supreme, sports offer a break from the serious stuff. Yet, with so many people moving in from other places, it’s no surprise that opinions clash about the local teams. Maybe that’s why some find them odd or unusual.
But what makes a team weird anyway? Is it their history, fans’ passion, or something else entirely? Sometimes cities have quirks only locals get.
