The NHL season is full of unexpected twists, and some teams are not living up to the hype.
Nashville Predators had high hopes with new players like Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault joining their squad, but things have gone off track. They lost 5-1 to Edmonton recently, putting them at a disappointing 3-6-1 record. Coach Andrew Brunette admitted they just weren’t ready for that game. Their main struggles include scoring, with only 2.40 goals per game (which is almost the worst in the league), and Juuse Saros isn’t performing as expected in goal either. To make the playoffs, they need better defense since they’re letting in too many goals—ranking 26th in goals-against average. Filip Forsberg and Ryan O’Reilly are doing well individually, but it might not be enough against strong teams like the Jets and Stars.
Edmonton Oilers were favorites for the Stanley Cup this year after adding Jeff Skinner and Viktor Arvidsson to their lineup. However, they’ve only managed a 5-5-1 record so far. The team took a big hit when Connor McDavid got injured for a few weeks during a match against Columbus . Zach Hyman hasn’t been scoring much either; he has just one goal this season after netting 54 last year! With McDavid out, Leon Draisaitl will need to step up even more.
Surprising Struggles:
Fans might feel hopeful because Edmonton’s expected goals are among the best in the league! This means they could turn things around soon—especially since their division has weaker teams like Anaheim and San Jose.
Boston Bruins aimed for another playoff run despite trading away Linus Ullmark over summer; Jeremy Swayman was supposed to take charge as goalie while Nikita Zadorov brought depth on defense lines alongside Elias Lindholm upfront too—but now find themselves tied last place Atlantic Division due poor start (4 wins out of possible eleven). Scoring remains biggest issue here ranked lowly across board averaging mere two point six four per game!
Philadelphia Flyers wanted build upon last year’s near-playoff success by adding top prospects Ivan Fedotov & Matvei Michkov from Russia during offseason—but currently sit at same disappointing record as Boston: four wins ten games played thus far… Goaltending woes plague them most though ranking second-worst save percentage league-wide (.872)! Nick Seeler says hard work needs done blocking shots playing gritty style—but will that really be enough?
Will these teams bounce back soon or continue struggling throughout season? What do you think?
