Stanley Cup Final 2025: Oilers Walman Fined for Game 3 Infractions

The Stanley Cup Final is getting heated – literally. Edmonton’s Jake Walman is now $10,000 lighter in the wallet after losing his cool during Game 3’s intense matchup against Florida.

The NHL’s safety team hit Walman with two separate $5,000 fines. First, for throwing punches at Matthew Tkachuk during a net-front scrum. Then for an odd moment when he decided to give the Panthers’ bench an unwanted water bottle shower late in the second period.

It was that kind of night in Florida.

The game turned into an old-school hockey brawl, with players racking up an incredible 140 penalty minutes combined. Things really boiled over in the second period when a full-on line brawl broke out, sending six players – including Sam Bennett, Mattias Ekholm, and Darnell Nurse – to the penalty box with misconducts.

Walman, who’d been having a strong series, went pointless for the first time while spending six minutes in the sin bin.

The Panthers didn’t let the chaos distract them though. They jumped on Edmonton right from the start, cruising to a dominant 6-1 win. Brad Marchand kept his hot streak alive, scoring his third goal of the Final to lead Florida’s offensive explosion.

The message is clear: keep your cool or pay the price – both on the scoreboard and in your wallet.
