Macklin Celebrini and Ty Dellandrea are set to return for the Sharks in their game against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Celebrini, who was the top pick in this year’s draft, has been out since the season opener due to a lower-body injury he got during his first shift. Despite this, he still managed to score a goal and assist in 17 minutes of play against the Blues.
After missing 12 games, Celebrini is expected to center the top line with William Eklund and Tyler Toffoli. This move pushes Mikael Granlund, who leads with 14 points in 13 games, to the second line, boosting their scoring power. The Sharks have had a rough start but have shown improvement by winning three of their last four games and scoring more than their opponents during that period.
Dellandrea also returns after injuring his hand against the Golden Knights over a week ago. He had scored once in nine games since joining from the Stars but missed four matches due to his injury . Fans might feel hopeful about these changes bringing better results for the team.
Sharks’ Roster Changes:
To make room for Celebrini and Dellandrea’s return, San Jose needs to adjust its roster by possibly sending some players down to the minors. Ethan Cardwell, Daniil Gushchin, and Jack Thompson are potential candidates because they can be moved without needing waivers. Although Thompson has contributed three assists in six games and ranks ninth on team scoring charts, it’s uncertain if he’ll be sent down given his performance.
Gushchin has only one assist across ten appearances since making it onto the opening night roster while Cardwell hasn’t scored yet and holds a -2 rating after stepping up when Dellandrea was injured.
Fans might wonder if these lineup changes will give them an edge or if more surprises await as they face off against Columbus next time around! What do you think?
