The Sharks are shaking up their roster ahead of Wednesday’s clash with the Flyers, bringing up scoring sensation Collin Graf from their AHL team.
Graf’s been lighting it up with the San Jose Barracuda, racking up 26 points in just 29 games. That’s good enough for second place in team scoring.
To make room, the team placed William Eklund on injured reserve. It’s not a shock move – everyone knew he’d be out for a bit with an upper-body injury he picked up before Christmas.
The good news? Eklund could be back any day now since the move was backdated to December 23.
The 21-year-old Eklund has been a bright spot in a tough season for the Sharks. He’s put up 27 points – seven goals and 20 assists – in 36 games, tying him with Macklin Celebrini for second in team scoring.
Graf might not have the same draft hype as Eklund, but he’s been absolutely electric in the minors. This call-up is his big chance to show he belongs in the NHL.
With the trade deadline approaching and the Sharks likely to make some moves, Graf’s timing couldn’t be better. If he keeps playing the way he has been, he might just stick around in San Jose for good.
