The Buffalo Sabres have put Tage Thompson on injured reserve due to a lower-body injury he got during the game against Montreal. He scored one goal in that match before leaving after just 6:49 of play. Now, he’s out until at least November 18, missing the recent win over St. Louis too. Despite this setback, he’s still leading the team with impressive stats: 11 goals, 18 points, and tons of shots.
In response to Thompson’s absence, Buffalo called up Jiri Kulich from the AHL. Kulich has been doing well there with two goals and three points in four games. The Sabres hope he can bring some of that energy to the NHL since he’s only scored once in eight games so far this season.
Meanwhile, Jordan Greenway is dealing with an injury too and might not play on Saturday night. He’s been tough on the ice lately but hasn’t scored much—just one point in his last five games.
Lineup Changes:
With these injuries shaking things up, Sam Lafferty stepped into Thompson’s spot while Ryan McLeod took over on the top line. McLeod made good use of his extra minutes by scoring a goal and an assist. Fans might wonder if these changes will help or hurt their chances moving forward.
Lafferty and Kulich are now competing for fourth-line center duties unless Greenway can’t play. This could lead to more surprises as they try to fill those gaps effectively.
Will these lineup tweaks work out? What do you think about all these changes?
