Quinn Hughes might be eyeing a family reunion in New Jersey, and it’s sending shockwaves through Vancouver’s hockey scene.
The star defenseman has made it clear he’d love to play alongside his brothers Jack and Luke, who both suit up for the Devils. This bombshell came straight from Canucks GM Jim Rutherford during his end-of-season media session.
“He’s said before that he wants to play with his brothers,” Rutherford admitted, choosing his words carefully to avoid any tampering issues.
The timing couldn’t be more delicate for Vancouver. They’re still stinging from missing the playoffs after a rough season filled with locker room drama and injury troubles.
Hughes isn’t going anywhere just yet – he’s got two years left on his current deal. But the clock is ticking.
The Canucks are in a tough spot. They can’t afford to let their captain walk away for nothing when his contract expires. That leaves them with two options: work out an extension or explore a trade.
“This franchise simply can’t afford to lose a guy like Quinn Hughes,” Rutherford emphasized. “We’re going to do everything we can to keep him here.”
