Things are looking rough in Nashville, and the team’s leader is starting to voice his concerns. During a radio chat on 102.5 The Game, Barry Trotz, the general manager of the Nashville Predators, mentioned that if they don’t improve soon, big changes might happen. “I’m trying to make some moves right now,” Trotz said. “We’re a bit stuck because of some contracts we have. If things don’t get better, I might kick off our rebuild plan.”
Trotz talked about their offseason strategy, which felt like playing ‘fantasy hockey.’ They signed Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault hoping to become serious contenders. But so far, things haven’t gone as planned. “We brought in veteran players this year to be a threat,” he admitted . “If it doesn’t work out or things fall apart… we’ll need to mix things up.” Filip Forsberg is leading in scoring with Ryan O’Reilly helping out too, but Marchessault and Stamkos haven’t been as impactful as expected; Marchessault has only two goals and seven points in 12 games while Stamkos has five points.
Team Performance Woes:
After losing 3-0 against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night with just 16 shots on goal from their side, Nashville has dropped three of its last four games and holds a disappointing record of 4-7-1 so far this season. With only nine points earned, they’re tied for the fewest in the NHL and have a .375 winning percentage that’s barely better than the Philadelphia Flyers’ league-worst record.
Fans might feel worried about where their favorite team is heading next.
The Predators are gearing up for their next game against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night.
