Ovechkin Skating Two Weeks After Fibula Fracture

The “Russian Machine” is truly something else. Just two weeks after Alex Ovechkin broke his left fibula in a tough match against Utah on November 18, he’s already back skating.

Ovechkin was spotted before Washington’s practice on Monday, gliding around the rink in a tracksuit. This is a great sign that his recovery is going better than expected.

At 39, Ovechkin went on injured reserve on November 20 and was supposed to be out for four to six weeks. Seeing him skate so soon, even if not at full speed, makes fans hopeful since he was on fire when he got hurt. He led the league with 15 goals and seemed like he might break Wayne Gretzky’s record of 894 goals this season. On the night of his injury, he scored career goal number 868, leaving him just 27 away from Gretzky’s record .

Ovechkin’s Return: What Fans Hope For

Some think Ovechkin might be back playing with the Capitals by January if things keep going well. Fans know it might take time for him to get back to top form, but he’s surprised everyone before. Even if breaking Gretzky’s record doesn’t happen this year, there’s still next season under his contract with Washington.

Fans are probably thinking about how amazing it would be if he breaks the record soon!

So what do you think? Will Ovechkin make history this season or next?
