Quinn Hutson got his big NHL call-up with the Oilers today, but fans are already scratching their heads at how the team plans to use him.
The talented young forward, known for his scoring touch, finds himself stuck on the fourth line between Trent Frederic and Curtis Lazar. That’s not exactly prime real estate for a player with Hutson’s offensive skills.
It’s a bit like putting a Ferrari in a demolition derby.
The move is especially puzzling since Frederic hasn’t exactly been lighting it up this season. The Oilers signed him hoping for some offensive production, but that hasn’t materialized.
“Why even call him up if you’re going to bury him on the fourth line?” one fan posted on social media, echoing what many are thinking.
Hutson, who’s been turning heads with his dynamic scoring ability in the minors, seems better suited for a top-nine role where his skills could actually make an impact.
But for now, he’ll have to try making magic happen between two players better known for their grinding style than their scoring touch.
