Oilers Injury Updates: Hyman & Ekholm Shut Down for Season

The Edmonton Oilers got some much-needed good news about two of their key players ahead of their next game.

Zach Hyman, who had fans holding their breath after what looked like a nasty injury against the New York Islanders, was back on the ice for Sunday’s practice.

Even better? He was a full participant.

“He’ll be a game-time decision,” head coach Kris Knoblauch told reporters after practice. The way Hyman was moving out there, it’s looking pretty good that he’ll suit up.

There’s also positive news about veteran defenseman Mattias Ekholm, who’s been dealing with a double whammy of illness and a minor injury lately.

Both players’ return would be huge for the Oilers, who’ve been trying to keep their momentum going during this crucial stretch of the season.

Hyman has been one of Edmonton’s most consistent performers this year, while Ekholm’s steady presence on the blue line has been missed during his absence.

The team will make final decisions on both players’ status closer to game time, but seeing them back at practice has already lifted spirits in the Oilers’ locker room.
