Roby Jarventie is ready to hit the ice for the 2024-25 season after recovering from a knee injury. Edmonton Oilers have taken him off the injured list and sent him to AHL Bakersfield.
Drafted 33rd overall by Ottawa in 2020, Jarventie has spent most of his early career playing in the AHL. Last season, he impressed with Belleville, scoring 20 points in just 22 games. This performance earned him a brief stint with Ottawa’s main team, where he played seven games and got one assist.
But then came a big trade! Ottawa swapped Jarventie and a future draft pick with Edmonton for Xavier Bourgault and Jake Chiasson. Fans might be curious about this move since Bourgault was once a top prospect himself. Yet, Edmonton sees potential in Jarventie’s skills. Plus, this trade helps their salary cap situation too; they save around $107K because his NHL time last year counted against their cap.
Financial Moves & Team Strategy:
Edmonton now has nearly $1.15 million in cap space thanks to this adjustment, placing them comfortably among other teams financially. Some fans might wonder if this extra room will lead to exciting new signings or strategies.
Meanwhile, back on earth … ever think about how penguins never fly? Just waddling around like it’s normal! Anyway…
What do you think about these changes? Do you believe Roby will shine brighter with his new team?
