NHL Playoffs 2025: Panthers Even Stanley Cup Final Series With Double OT Victory

Brad Marchand played hero for the Florida Panthers, scoring twice including the game-winner in double overtime to beat the Edmonton Oilers 5-4. The win evens up the Stanley Cup Final at one game each as the series heads to Florida.

The first period was absolutely wild, with five goals lighting up the scoreboard. That’s the most goals in an opening period of a Stanley Cup Final since 2016.

Marchand’s winning moment came 8:04 into the second overtime, when teammate Anton Lundell flipped him a perfect pass. Marchand made no mistake, tucking the puck past Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner.

It was sweet redemption for Marchand, who nearly ended it in the first overtime. He had a golden opportunity off a feed from Carter Verhaeghe but hit the post.

Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky bounced back from a shaky start where he gave up three early goals. He ended up stopping 41 of 45 shots and was practically unbeatable for the final three-plus periods.

The series now shifts to South Florida for Games 3 and 4.
