Meredith Gaudreau’s Emotional Tribute to Blue Jackets Star

Johnny Gaudreau’s wife, Meredith, has finally spoken about his tragic death.

Johnny and his brother Matthew were biking in New Jersey when an SUV hit them. The driver was suspected of being drunk and passed a vehicle on the right before striking the brothers.

Meredith shared a heartfelt message online about her husband of almost three years, along with pictures of their life together and Johnny with their kids. “Thank you for the best years of my life,” she wrote. “Despite losing you, I am still the luckiest girl in the world to have been yours. I love you so much. You were perfect. Some days it felt too good to be true. I love every single thing about you. You are my forever and I can’t wait to be with you again. I love you so much forever and ever.”

Matthew’s wife, Madeline, is expecting their first child soon, named Tripp. A GoFundMe page has been created to support Madeline and Tripp after Matthew’s sudden passing.

Tributes Pour In:

Teams and players from all over the NHL have honored Johnny and Matthew since their deaths.

“Johnny played the game with great joy which was felt by everyone that saw him on the ice,” said the Blue Jackets in a statement. “He brought a genuine love for hockey with him everywhere he played from Boston College to the Calgary Flames to Team USA to the Blue Jackets.”

Fans might feel heartbroken hearing this news as they remember how thrilling it was to watch Johnny Hockey play.

“He thrilled fans in a way only Johnny Hockey could,” continued the statement from Blue Jackets. “The impact he had on our organization and our sport was profound but pales in comparison to the indelible impression he made on everyone who knew him.”
