Connor McDavid seems to be giving Dylan Holloway the cold shoulder, and hockey fans are taking notice.
The drama played out during Tuesday’s Oilers-Blues matchup, where McDavid’s interactions with his former teammate raised some eyebrows.
Social media lit up when fans spotted McDavid appearing to brush off Holloway during a post-whistle scrum. It’s quite a change from just last summer, when Holloway was celebrating at McDavid’s wedding.
The tension likely stems from Holloway’s decision to sign an offer sheet with the Blues – a move that caught the Oilers off guard and forced them to let the young forward walk.
One fan on X.com didn’t mince words: “Would bet a decent amount 97 hates that Holloway accepted the offer sheet,” noting how McDavid seemed to avoid conversation when Holloway tried to chat during the game.
Things got even more interesting when McDavid apparently chirped at his former teammate after the Blues tied it 2-2.
But the real statement came in overtime. That’s when McDavid put on a show, absolutely undressing both Holloway and another ex-Oiler, Philip Broberg, before setting up Connor Brown for the game-winner.
It was the kind of magical play that probably had Holloway thinking about what he left behind in Edmonton.
While it might be a stretch to say McDavid was “disgusted,” it’s pretty clear the relationship isn’t what it used to be. And maybe that’s exactly the message McDavid wanted to send.
