Auston Matthews’ future with the Toronto Maple Leafs remains uncertain following his Olympic gold medal performance and subsequent NHL struggles.
The star center’s season came to an abrupt end after a devastating knee-to-knee collision with Ducks defenseman Radko Gudas on March 12.
“Auston’s under contract,” Leafs GM Brad Treliving told TSN, trying to calm speculation about the 28-year-old’s future. “We’ll continue like we do with all our players and talk about things as we get into the offseason.”
Right now, Treliving’s focused on the team’s final 14 games. That’s all he wants to discuss.
