Maple Leafs Aggressively Pursuing Center Trade, per Mirtle

The Toronto Maple Leafs aren’t just window shopping – they’re on a serious hunt for a new center before the trade deadline.

Team GM Brad Treliving is working the phones hard, according to The Athletic’s James Mirtle, who dropped this insight on the JD Bunkis podcast.

“The Maple Leafs are looking aggressively for the center they want,” Mirtle said.

It makes perfect sense. The Leafs need to shake things up, and they’re facing two big challenges: they need better defensive players, and they’ve got to figure out how to make their roster pieces fit together.

Treliving’s already missed out on a couple of potential deals, but he’s got plenty of options left – from budget-friendly picks to some expensive star power.

The timing’s getting tight though. With the trade deadline approaching, the pressure’s on to make something happen.

This isn’t just about adding another player – it’s about finding the right piece to strengthen Toronto’s core and maybe, just maybe, help them make that deep playoff run their fans have been dreaming about.
