Lightning Rally to Beat Bruins in Historic Outdoor Game

The Tampa Bay Lightning pulled off something that had never been done in their 32-year history – coming back from a four-goal deficit to win.

Down 5-1 to the Boston Bruins halfway through the second period, the Lightning staged an incredible comeback at the outdoor NHL game hosted at an NFL stadium, eventually winning 6-5 in a shootout.

Jake Guentzel played hero, scoring the winning goal in the shootout to seal the historic victory.

What makes this win even sweeter? It came against their division rivals, the Bruins, in front of thousands of fans under the open sky.

The Lightning have come close before. They’ve managed to tie games after being down by four goals, but they’ve never actually finished the job and gotten the win.

This time was different. Once Tampa found their rhythm in the second period, there was no stopping them.

“It’s pretty incredible what we pulled off tonight,” said Guentzel after the game. “To do something that’s never been done in franchise history, and to do it outdoors against Boston – that’s special.”

The victory marks a turning point for a Lightning team that’s been searching for signature wins this season. Coming back from a 5-1 deficit isn’t just rare – it’s the kind of momentum-building win that could spark a strong playoff push.

And doing it all under the lights of an NFL stadium? That’s the stuff hockey dreams are made of.
