The Seattle Kraken are finalizing a deal to keep Adam Larsson for four more years.
Reports from Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff and Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet confirm that Larsson will earn $5.25 million each season, totaling $21 million over the contract period. Drafted fourth overall in 2011, Larsson joined the Kraken during the 2021 Expansion Draft from the Edmonton Oilers and signed a four-year, $16 million contract with Seattle.
Larsson has thrived with the Kraken, taking on more responsibility than ever before. He missed just one game this past season and averaged nearly 23 minutes of ice time per game over 245 games. His performance includes 20 goals and 76 points, along with leading the team in blocked shots and hits for two seasons straight . The only downside is his possession stats, which fall below a 50 percent CorsiFor percentage due to his high defensive zone starts.
New Contract Details:
Larsson’s new salary is slightly under Evolving-Hockey’s prediction of $5.5 million annually for a similar term. This contract keeps him with Seattle until the end of the 2028-29 season, ensuring stability on defense alongside Vince Dunn until at least 2027-28. Earlier this offseason, Brandon Montour also joined on a seven-year deal, solidifying their blue line for years to come.
Fans might think this move shows how serious Seattle is about building a strong defense.
By securing Larsson now, Seattle avoids any trade deadline drama next year where he would have been a prime candidate if they were out of playoff contention.
