Jack Hughes Roasts Viktor Arvidsson in Penalty Box Incident

Jack Hughes of the New Jersey Devils showcased his trash-talking skills alongside his goal-scoring prowess during a game against the Los Angeles Kings, notably telling Viktor Arvidsson that “people pay to watch me play” after an on-ice altercation led to both receiving minor penalties.

Jack Hughes, that New Jersey Devils forward, isn’t just about scoring goals. Nope. In a game last Thursday night, a 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, he showed off another skill. Trash-talking.

The guy’s only 22, playing center. Yet, there he was, going head-to-head with the Kings’ Viktor Arvidsson. Both landed in the penalty box late in the second period. Why? A little scuffle on the ice.

Hughes was ticked off. Arvidsson had elbowed him in the head just moments before. So, as they made their way to the box, words were exchanged. And Hughes? He landed a verbal knockout. Told Arvidsson straight up, “people pay to watch me play.”
