The Hurricanes are on a road trip out west and have called up two players to join them.
Tyson Jost and Ty Smith have been brought up from AHL Chicago to help the team. Jost got a one-year deal worth $775K with Carolina after Buffalo let him go, ensuring he gets NHL pay. Despite this, he didn’t make the main roster initially, went through waivers without being claimed, and was sent down to the Wolves. In eight games there, he’s managed one goal and two assists. Over his career, Jost has racked up 140 points in 456 NHL games for teams like Colorado, Minnesota, and Buffalo.
Smith is back with the Hurricanes for a second time this season but hasn’t played any games yet . Earlier this year, he spent ten days with Carolina before returning to the AHL. In three matches with the Wolves in 2024-25, he’s assisted twice. He joined Carolina last season during a trade involving Jake Guentzel but stayed with Pittsburgh’s minor league team until now.
Roster Changes:
Fans might think these moves could give the team an extra boost they need right now. With Spencer Martin being sent down recently (though just on paper), Carolina’s roster now has 22 active players.
