Historic Pace of Penguins Star at Age 36

At age 36, Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby is on track for a career-high season, potentially joining Alex Ovechkin as the only other player 36 or older to score over 50 goals in a season.

Guess what? Sidney Crosby, the star of Pittsburgh Penguins and a future Hall of Famer, is already 36. But, you wouldn’t guess his age from his performance on the ice.

This 11-year vet is making history, all thanks to a blazing start to the 2023-2024 season. On Thursday, he scored his 14th goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning. This puts him on track for a career-best of 52.

Now, it’s not likely Crosby will keep scoring at this pace for the rest of the season. But, imagine if he did. He’d be joining the ranks of Alex Ovechkin, the Washington Capitals star.

Ovechkin is the only other player aged 36 or above who’s managed to score more than 50 goals in a season. So, here’s to Crosby possibly making history.
