The Tampa Bay Lightning surprised everyone by scoring five goals in the first period against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday.
Brandon Hagel was on fire, helping with four of those goals and matching an NHL record for most assists in a single period. He is now one of only nine players ever to do this.
Tampa Bay led 5-1 after the first period and quickly scored again in the second. Hagel’s fifth assist came when Brayden Point scored during a power play, making it 6-1. This achievement put Hagel alongside Mark Recchi, Martin St. Louis, and Darren Raddysh for most assists in a game for Tampa Bay.
Hagel’s Impact:
Since joining from the Chicago Blackhawks in 2022, Hagel has reached new heights with career-best numbers: 30 goals last season, plus 49 assists and 75 points this season. Fans might think he’s becoming a key player for Tampa Bay.
This season alone, he has gathered 26 points over just 20 games—scoring nine times and assisting seventeen times! The Lightning defeated Colorado with an impressive score of 8-2, ending their two-game losing streak.
Now they look forward to facing off against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday before Thanksgiving arrives. What do you think about these amazing performances?
