Yet, one Calgary Flames supporter thought it might be worth a shot to ask for help. Over the weekend, a humorous social media post went viral. It showed a fan reaching out to Greenpeace, hoping they could prevent the Edmonton Oilers from clinching the Stanley Cup.
“It would be an environmental PR nightmare if a team named after a fossil fuel won the Stanley Cup after coming back down from 3-0,” wrote the fan in their message to Greenpeace. “Just think about how good that will make oil and gas look.” They urged Greenpeace to contact Gary Bettman and ensure referees favor the Florida Panthers .
