The Stanley Cup Final is set for an epic rematch as the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers prepare to battle it out for hockey’s biggest prize in 2025.
It’s a chance for revenge for Edmonton after last year’s heartbreaking loss. The Panthers had jumped out to what seemed like an insurmountable 3-0 lead in the 2024 series, only to see the Oilers claw their way back to force Game 7.
Florida ultimately clinched their first-ever Stanley Cup on home ice. Now they’re looking to make it two in a row.
This time, the Oilers have home-ice advantage – and they’re determined to finally get over the hump.
The Panthers have been absolutely dominant on the road this postseason, going 8-2 including a huge Game 7 win in Toronto. They made quick work of Carolina in the Eastern Conference Finals, wrapping it up in just five games.
Edmonton’s been nearly as impressive away from home, dropping just three road games all playoffs. They took care of Dallas in five games to punch their ticket to the Finals.
The star power in this series is off the charts. While Florida’s Sam Bennett leads all playoff scorers with 10 goals, Edmonton’s dynamic duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have been on another level. McDavid tops all players with 26 points, with Draisaitl right behind at 25.
But they’ll have to solve Panthers’ goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, who’s been a brick wall this postseason. He leads all goalies in wins and ranks among the top performers in both save percentage and goals allowed.
The oddsmakers are giving Edmonton a slight edge:
– Game 1: Oilers -131 favorites
– Series: Edmonton -120, Florida +100
