Ducks Zegras Seeks Second Opinion on Knee Injury

Trevor Zegras is going to be out for a while due to a knee injury he got last week.

After some tests, it seems there’s still some confusion about how long he’ll be sidelined. Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff says Zegras is getting more opinions on how best to treat the injury, and we might know more in a day or two. Last year wasn’t great for Zegras; contract issues kept him out of training camp and preseason, and he never quite caught up. He also missed many games because of two big injuries, playing only 31 games with six goals and nine assists.

Despite trade rumors over the summer, there was hope that 2024-25 would be better for him. But things haven’t turned out that way . In 24 games this season, he’s managed just four goals and six assists while playing under 17 minutes per game. With this new report, it looks like his stats won’t improve anytime soon. Often players seek second opinions hoping to avoid surgery and opt for rehab instead since surgery means a longer recovery.

Future Uncertainties:

Zegras has just one year left on his current deal after this season, which comes with a $5.75 million cap hit and arbitration rights. If he ends up missing the rest of the season or even longer, fans might wonder what will happen next offseason.

What do you think? Will Zegras bounce back stronger than ever?
