Connor Bedard had a rookie season in the NHL that everyone was talking about, much like Connor McDavid did back in 2015-16. During an interview with Frank Seravalli on “Frankly Speaking,” Bedard shared his experiences transitioning from the WHL’s Regina Pats to the Chicago Blackhawks and how he managed it all.
When asked about adapting throughout the season, Bedard emphasized that his routine outside of games was crucial. He mentioned how important it was to play a lot and do what makes him feel good. On the ice, he learned when to make plays and how to be effective in this top-tier league compared to junior hockey.
As for any secret tips or tricks he discovered, Bedard said lifting weights became more important than before. In junior hockey, workouts were less frequent unless there were days off. But now, spending 20 minutes here and there helps maintain strength over the long season.
Handling Routine and Fitness:
Bedard explained that sometimes he lifts weights after games or before practice but not always—it’s all about balance so he doesn’t get too tired. When asked by Seravalli about nutrition and rest, Bedard confidently said he’s always been a good eater, which made things easier for him.
Fans might think it’s cool how focused Bedard is on taking care of himself!
He stressed that getting enough sleep is essential since players often travel late at night. Off days are precious because they allow time for recovery and self-care as the season progresses.
So what do you think? Are routines like these something you’d find challenging?
