Charlie Lindgren just made what might be the save of the year, and it’s not even close.
The Washington Capitals goalie pulled off something that looked straight out of a highlight reel Saturday night at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
Here’s what happened: The Caps were down 2-1 and doing what teams usually do when they’re losing late – pulling their goalie for an extra skater.
Lindgren was halfway to the bench when everything went wrong.
Vancouver’s Phillip Di Giuseppe got hold of the puck and took his shot. From near the red line, he had what should’ve been an easy empty-netter.
But Lindgren wasn’t having it.
The Caps netminder somehow spun around and made an absolutely ridiculous diving save that had fans jumping out of their seats. It’s the kind of save that’ll be showing up on sports highlights for weeks to come.
What makes it even more impressive? He was literally heading off the ice when he had to switch into superhero mode.
These are the moments that remind us why hockey’s so incredible – a split-second decision, an impossible save, and a goalie who just wouldn’t quit on the play.
Even though the Capitals ended up losing the game, Lindgren’s save is what everyone’s talking about. And honestly? They should be.
