Canadiens Staff Member Reportedly Pulled Laine From Monday Game

Patrik Laine’s early exit from Monday’s game might have been more about smart prevention than serious injury, according to insider Renaud Lavoie.

The Canadiens’ medical staff apparently spotted something concerning during the game against Columbus. While the Blue Jackets’ hits were technically clean, they seemed to be targeting Laine’s left shoulder – the same one he had surgery on last year.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if someone from the Canadiens decided that enough was enough,” Lavoie said.

It’s worth remembering that Laine struggled with shoulder problems near the end of his time with the Blue Jackets. The team was well aware of his injury history.

The Canadiens listed their star forward as day-to-day on Wednesday, which could be a good sign. If the decision to pull him was purely preventive, fans might see him back on the ice sooner rather than later.

That would be huge for Montreal, as Laine’s been a key piece of their offense this season.

For now, though, everyone’s just waiting for more details about his condition.
