Alexandre Texier is making quite a name for himself with the Montreal Canadiens, scoring his third goal in just four games during Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers at home.
The 26-year-old forward, who’s the only French player in the NHL right now, has been on fire since joining Montreal three-and-a-half weeks ago.
His latest goal came late in the first period, finishing off a nice play set up by Josh Anderson and Jake Evans. But the celebration didn’t last long – the Flyers bounced back just 40 seconds later when Carl Grundstrom found the net.
Philadelphia took control after that, with Trevor Zegras, Bobby Brink, and Travis Konecny each adding goals of their own.
It’s been quite a turnaround for Texier, who struggled to catch on with the St. Louis Blues before being traded to Montreal on November 23. Now he’s looking right at home with the Canadiens.
In just 11 games with his new team, he’s already racked up three goals and two assists. He even made headlines with an impressive shootout performance against Toronto.
What makes Texier such a good fit in Montreal? It’s his straightforward, no-nonsense style of play.
He’s aggressive on the forecheck, reliable in puck battles, and has a knack for finding scoring positions without trying to do too much. That’s exactly the kind of player the Canadiens need right now.
The team currently sits fourth in their division and eighth in the conference, with teams having played between 30 and 35 games in the 82-game season.
At just 26, Texier still has room to grow, but he’s already proving valuable in multiple roles – whether that’s in the middle six forwards, on the penalty kill, or during power plays.
For a Montreal team looking for steady, reliable players to build around, Texier is starting to look like he might be part of the long-term solution.
