Blues Troll Utah for Preseason Own Goal

The Utah Hockey Club had an interesting start on Sunday.

In their first preseason game of the 2024-25 season, Utah faced off against the St. Louis Blues at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. The new team showed some nerves on the ice. During the second period, St. Louis got a penalty while Utah had control of the puck.

Utah decided to pull their goalie for an extra player to try and score with a 6-on-5 advantage. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned . The puck was passed back to Dylan Guenther at the blue line, but he couldn’t handle it. It slid all the way down into their own empty net, giving St. Louis a 2-0 lead in a rather odd fashion.

Unexpected Moments:

Fans might think this is just part of being a new team and learning from mistakes is key.

Despite this mishap, it’s clear that Utah is still finding its footing in the NHL world. Sometimes these moments are what make sports so unpredictable and exciting!

What do you think about this wild start?
