The St. Louis Blues have recalled forward Zachary Bolduc from the AHL, placed defenseman Justin Faulk on Long-Term Injured Reserve, and Scott Perunovich on injured reserve, with the most notable aspect being the anticipated NHL debut of Bolduc, a promising player with a successful junior career.
The St. Louis Blues have been busy shaking up their roster. They’ve just called up forward Zachary Bolduc from the Springfield Thunderbirds. Meanwhile, they’re dealing with injuries, placing defenseman Justin Faulk on Long-Term Injured Reserve. And Scott Perunovich? He’s on the injured reserve too.
Now, don’t expect these moves to rock the boat immediately. Faulk’s been out for the last 10 games, Perunovich for seven. Once they’re fit, they can jump back in, thanks to the rules around LTIR and IR.
But here’s the kicker. Everyone’s buzzing about Zachary Bolduc’s upcoming debut. The guy was a first-round pick for the Blues in the 2021 NHL Draft, and it’s his rookie season with them.
Before joining the Blues, Bolduc was tearing it up in the QMJHL. First with Rimouski Oceanic, then with the Quebec Remparts under none other than Patrick Roy. Over 126 games in Quebec, the kid was on fire, racking up 105 goals and 209 points.
And playoffs? Bolduc was clutch, netting 19 goals and 31 points in 30 games. Even led the Remparts to a Memorial Cup championship in the 2022-23 season. Impressive, right?
Transitioning to pro hockey hasn’t been a cakewalk, though. In his first season with Springfield, Bolduc’s managed 8 goals and 23 points across 48 games. Not quite the same spark, but hey, it’s early days.
