Blues Aim to Extend Pavel Buchnevich

In a recent interview, Doug Armstrong shared that the St. Louis Blues will work hard to keep Pavel Buchnevich.

This is a big change since Buchnevich was mentioned in trade rumors before. The Blues want to sign him for four-to-seven years, with a salary less than Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou’s $8.125M. Buchnevich has been one of the top three scorers for the team every season.

Over his three years with the Blues, Buchnevich has scored more than he did in five years with the Rangers. He played 216 games since 2021-22, scoring 83 goals and 206 points, plus one goal and 11 points in playoffs . His possession metrics were also great last season, leading the team with a 52.8% CorsiFor%.

Blues’ Future Plans:

Fans might think it’s smart to keep such an important player around longer. Given how valuable he is to St. Louis, trading him would have been tough for Armstrong anyway.

Instead of trading him away, it looks like they want to keep this partnership going strong for many more seasons.
