Wyatt Kaiser is set to play against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night. The Chicago Blackhawks have brought him back from injured reserve and sent Isaak Phillips to the Rockford IceHogs, their AHL team. Kaiser missed the first game of the season against Utah Hockey Club because he was sick, but it wasn’t a big loss since the Blackhawks were defeated by the new team.
Kaiser needs some time to get back in shape with his team. He was picked 81st in the 2020 NHL Draft but couldn’t play in preseason due to an injury from training camp. Last season, he managed seven assists over 32 games, playing about 17 minutes each game. Once he’s ready, he’ll likely join Connor Murphy on defense’s left side.
Phillips cleared waivers just before regular season began and stayed with Chicago but didn’t play in their first game. Now he’s going back to Rockford where he’s been solid since joining pro hockey in 2020-21, scoring 22 goals and earning 71 points across 171 games.
Blackhawks’ Roster Changes:
Fans might wonder if these changes will help or hurt their favorite team this year. While Kaiser gets up to speed, Phillips will aim for more consistent ice time with Rockford.
Sometimes life throws curveballs—like missing games due to illness or unexpected injuries—but that’s sports for you! Do you think these roster moves will make a difference?
