The Colorado Avalanche are facing a setback as Miles Wood will be out for at least a week due to injury.
Wood’s absence is due to being placed on injured reserve again, prompting the team to call up Chris Wagner from their AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles. This marks Wood’s second stint on IR this season after missing seven games previously.
During Wednesday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights, Wood seemed to aggravate an old upper-body injury while attempting a hit. He has managed one goal and two points in his recent six-game return, with another goal scored in 10 earlier matches.
Chris Wagner Steps In:
Wagner is no stranger to stepping up for the Avalanche this season. He’s already played in 12 games for them, almost matching last year’s total appearances. Given the team’s frequent injuries among forwards, fans might think Wagner will surpass his previous playtime since the 2020-21 season.
Spending much of his time with the Eagles just north along I-25, Wagner has proven himself valuable by scoring nine goals and earning 15 points in 26 AHL games since rejoining the Avalanche last year.
With all these changes and challenges, what do you think?
