The Edmonton Oilers, having defeated the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the past two years, are set to face them again, bolstered by significant improvements and a 16-game winning streak, making this matchup a critical test for both teams.
Getty Images. It’s that time again.
For the third year straight, the Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings are going head-to-head in the Stanley Cup Playoffs’ first round. Edmonton’s clinched the last two. Los Angeles? They’re crossing fingers for that “third time’s the charm” magic.
At the season’s start, the Oilers were… let’s just say, not great. That led to a big shake-up. Jay Woodcroft out, Kris Knoblauch in. And, wow, did things change.
Suddenly, Edmonton’s on fire with 16 straight wins. Stars like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl? Unstoppable. Zach Hyman? He’s smashing records with a 50-goal season. And that defense, led by Mattias Ekholm and Evan Bouchard, solid as ever. Stuart Skinner’s just gotta keep those key saves coming.
But first, they’ve got to get past the Kings. It’s all about revenge for L.A. this time. Remember, Edmonton won in seven games in 2022, and in six last season. The Kings’ defense is tough, but can it handle Edmonton’s firepower?
And if L.A. falls behind, can Kevin Fiala or Adrian Kempe score enough to catch up? Guess we’ll see.
Here’s the full schedule for the Oilers vs. Kings series. It’s going to be intense.
