Happy birthday to one of hockey’s most exciting players! Mikko Rantanen turns 29 today, and what a wild ride he’s had lately.
The Dallas Stars winger just wrapped up one of the craziest seasons we’ve seen in recent memory. He bounced around like a pinball in 2024-25, going from Colorado to Carolina and finally landing in Dallas – all in the same season.
But that’s when things got really interesting.
Rantanen absolutely lit it up in the playoffs, putting on a show that hockey fans won’t forget anytime soon. He pulled off something pretty special: back-to-back hat tricks in the playoffs. And one of those? It came against his old team in Colorado, knocking them right out of the playoffs.
By the time the Stars’ playoff run ended in the Western Conference Finals against Edmonton, Rantanen had racked up an impressive 22 points in 18 games.
Here’s what makes it even more remarkable: Despite all the team-hopping during the regular season, he still managed to hit the 30-goal mark. That’s the sixth time in his career he’s reached that milestone.
